ASUS recommends Windows 8.
The ZENBOOK name was intended to be simple, clear, yet deep in its implications. From there, each person involved gave it their best, contributing rich artistic designs, with intelligent internal and material engineering to allow for advanced technology in a very compact form. The highly user-centric arrangement then added numerous features that set ZENBOOK apart.
While ASUS Chairman Jonney Shih initially thought of the name, ZENBOOK was and remains a genuine group project and passion. ZENBOOK Prime reflects the evolution of this ideology, taking the fusion of technology and contemplative art further.
It combines traditional thought and culture with the newest, most advanced technology: that is the very essence of Zen.
There was a lot of brainstorming involved, and after a while, it became clear one of the most powerful sources of inspiration were hand-made luxury timepieces from premium watches, and particularly the minute and hour hands. These reminded designers of the sliver-thin profile of proposed ZENBOOK when open and viewed from the side. This idea was bouncing around the design team for some time prior, and ZENBOOK presented an opportunity to finally put it into practice. Thoughts evolved into the introduction of additional elements, such as the concentric circles on ZENBOOK’s external surfaces. The circles were also partly inspired by the round shapes of high-end watches, but further draw on other, more philosophical ideas such as the infinite nature of Zen thinking and self-improvement. Designers hoped the same will be said of ZENBOOK and ASUS: that they are timeless artisans that produce true works of refinement.
